Getting Started

How do I make an appointment?

You can reach out to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation through the contact form on this website, by email, or by phone. This is the first step, which is a relaxed, no-pressure conversation to see if we might be a good fit to work together.

What happens during the consultation?

The free 15-minute phone consultation is a gentle, no-obligation conversation where we can get a sense of what brings you in, what you are looking for, and whether we might be a good fit to work together. There is no preparation needed. Just come as you are.

What should I expect from my first session?

Before we meet, I will send you a comprehensive intake form that I review carefully ahead of time, so our first session can feel like a conversation rather than a questionnaire.

When we come together for the first time, you can expect a real conversation, not a checklist. Our first session weaves clinical assessment into genuine human connection, creating space for us to begin knowing each other, establishing trust, and understanding what brings you here. I am just as interested in your strengths and resilience as I am in your struggles.

This is not a test. It is a threshold into your healing process and we cross it together.

Do you have a waitlist?

Availability changes. The best way to find out is to reach out directly and we can discuss current openings.

Therapy Sessions

How long are sessions?

Therapy sessions are 50 minutes.

How often will we meet?

We begin meeting weekly. As the work progresses, we will reassess together and find a rhythm that best supports your growth and goals.

How long does therapy take?

There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this. Some people come with a specific goal and find meaningful progress in a shorter time. Others are drawn to deeper, longer-term work. We will check in regularly about how things are
going and what feels right for you.

Do you offer in-person sessions?

Yes. In-person sessions are available in New York City. Please reach out directly for location details. Virtual sessions are available to clients throughout New York State.

How do virtual sessions work?

Virtual sessions are conducted via a HIPAA-compliant version video platform, ensuring your privacy and security. All you need is a reliable internet connection, a private space, and a device with a camera and microphone.

Details on accessing the portal will be provided before your first session.

Fees and Insurance

What are your fees?

What are your fees?
Intake Session: $350
Individual Therapy: $275
Couples Therapy: $325
Coaching: $275
Consulting: $275

The intake session fee reflects the additional time, preparation, and care that goes into our first meeting together — including a thorough review of your intake materials before we sit down.

A limited number of sliding scale spots are available for clients who demonstrate financial need. Please don’t hesitate to bring this up — this work should be as accessible as possible.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes — and we want to make this as easy as possible for you.

We accept the following insurances through out-of-network benefits:

Aetna · Cigna/Wellfleet · Magnacare · Emblem Health · GHI (NYCE PPO) · Anthem BCBS · United Healthcare · Carelon/NYSHIP

Rather than leaving you to navigate the complexities of out-of-network billing on your own, we offer courtesy billing and Assignment of Benefits (AOB), handling the process in-house on your behalf. Depending on your plan, your insurance may reimburse a portion of the session fee. If you would prefer to submit claims yourself, we are happy to provide a superbill instead.

Going the extra mile in moments like these is part of how we live our mission — so that from the very first step, you feel supported.

How do I know if I have out-of-network benefits?

A great first step is to call the member services number on the back of your insurance card and ask the following questions:

  • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
  • What is my deductible and has it been met?
  • What percentage of the session fee will be reimbursed after my deductible?
  • Is there a limit on the number of sessions covered per year?

That said, you do not have to figure this out alone. As part of our onboarding process, we verify your out-of-network benefits on our end so that we can walk into our work together with a clear picture of your coverage. Our goal is to make the financial side of this as transparent and stress-free as possible so you can focus on your healing.

Do you offer a sliding scale?

Yes! A limited number of sliding scale spots are available for clients who demonstrate financial need. Sliding scale fees are determined on a case by case basis and are discussed with care and without judgment.

Please don’t hesitate to bring this up — I want this conversation to feel as comfortable as possible. Financial accessibility matters here. Part of Liminal Integrative’s mission is to support equitable access to quality mental healthcare, and offering sliding scale fees is one of the ways we try to live that mission in practice. We offer this within the capacity we are able to, and we are always happy to explore what is possible together.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?

Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of your care before beginning services. As a private pay provider, I will provide this to you before we begin working together so you have full clarity on costs from the start.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Payment is accepted by credit card, including FSA and HSA cards. Please note that FSA and HSA funds may be used for psychotherapy services but may not apply to coaching or consulting. If you have questions about eligibility, we recommend checking with your FSA or HSA provider directly.

Cancellation Policy

What is your cancellation policy?

A minimum of 48 hours notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment is required to avoid the cancellation fee. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours notice, as well as no-shows, will be charged the full session fee. This policy exists to honor both of our time and to maintain the integrity of our work together.

What if I have an emergency?

Life happens. If a true emergency arises, please reach out as soon as possible and we will handle it with care and good judgment.

Confidentiality and Privacy

Is what I share in therapy confidential?

Yes. Everything shared in our sessions is held in strict confidence. There are a small number of legal and ethical exceptions — including situations involving risk of harm to yourself or others, or a court order — which will be explained fully at the start of our work together. Your privacy and trust are taken very seriously, because it is what allows us to create a safe therapeutic space for healing work to take place.

How is my information stored and protected?

All client records are stored securely in a HIPAA-compliant system called Simple Practice. Virtual sessions are conducted on a HIPAA-compliant video platform through a portal to ensure your privacy at every step.

About Hypnotherapy

What is hypnosis and what does it feel like?

Hypnosis is a natural state of focused attention and relaxed awareness. It’s a state that most people find deeply comfortable and even enjoyable. It is not sleep, and you do not lose awareness or control. Most people describe it as a deeply relaxed, absorbed state, similar to the feeling of being lost in a good book or a vivid daydream. You remain present and aware throughout.

While hypnosis is sometimes described simply as a state of heightened suggestibility, I believe this only scratches the surface of what makes it such a powerful healing tool. In line with well-established schools of hypnotic thought, I understand hypnosis as a natural, expansive state of consciousness — one in which the conscious mind becomes more open and receptive to the creative, healing resources of the unconscious. In our ordinary waking state, much of this inner wisdom is filtered out or inaccessible.

Hypnosis gently quiets that filter, allowing meaningful change to emerge from within rather than being imposed from without.
Hypnosis does not create change by overriding you. It creates change by returning you
to yourself.

Will I lose control or be made to do things I don't want to do?

No. This is one of the most common misconceptions about hypnosis, largely shaped by stage hypnosis and movies. In a therapeutic context, hypnosis is a collaborative and consensual process. You remain fully aware and in control at all times, and you cannot be made to do or say anything against your will or values.

Is hypnotherapy the same as stage hypnosis?

Not at all. Stage hypnosis is entertainment. Clinical hypnotherapy is a therapeutic tool used to support healing, behavioral change, and deeper self-understanding. They share a name but are entirely different experiences with entirely different intentions.

Can anyone be hypnotized?

Most people can enter a hypnotic state to some degree. The most important factors are openness, trust, and a willingness to engage with the process. We will always move at a pace that feels safe and comfortable for you, and there is no pressure to engage with hypnosis until you feel ready.

Is hypnotherapy offered as a standalone service?

Hypnotherapy at Liminal Integrative is integrated into the therapeutic relationship and is available to therapy clients. It is not offered as a standalone service separate from psychotherapy.

Therapy vs. Coaching

What is the difference between therapy and coaching?

Therapy is a licensed clinical service appropriate for individuals navigating emotional, psychological, or behavioral challenges. It operates within a mental health framework and involves diagnosis and clinical treatment. Coaching is a separate, non-clinical service focused on growth, clarity, goal-setting, and forward momentum. Both are supportive and deeply intentional, but they operate under different frameworks, with different agreements and no insurance involvement in coaching.

Can I do both therapy and coaching with you at the same time?

No. To maintain clear and ethical boundaries, therapy and coaching cannot be provided to the same individual simultaneously.

Still have questions?

I'm not sure if I'm ready. Is that okay?

Absolutely. Many people reach out before they feel fully ready and that uncertainty is often exactly the right place to begin. The free consultation is a gentle first step with no commitment attached. You are welcome here exactly as you are.

I don't see my question here. What should I do?

Please don’t hesitate to reach out directly. I am happy to answer any questions you have before taking the next step.
